EDN cooperation


EDN is a network for trust and cooperation between European dancehouses sharing a common vision regarding the development of dance art across borders.

Missions

EDN works on different
aspects

Our key mission is to cooperate in securing a sustainable future for the dance sector and to improve relevance for diverse dance among society.

To do so, EDN works on different aspects:

  • Enhance art management skills, offer team teaching and mentoring
  • Sustain a continuous audience education programme and share tools for audience development
  • Support a platform for intercultural exchange, develop joint projects, share insight and redevelop our organisations thanks to input from associations
  • Use projects to address cultural themes whilst integrating minorities to encourage active cultural participation
  • Campaing, conduct best practice model testing, offer support and provide information
  • Promote exchanges for artistic development, curate, present and co-produce

The future outlook

The future outlook for EDN is to:

  • Promote the idea of a diverse Europe and strengthen the importance of dance
  • Become a strong constellation of structures to support dance
  • Be able to contribute to transforming ourselves into better professionals and to pass this knowledge on to the next generation of cultural multipliers
  • Be an umbrella for projects among our members and with new partners, continuously enriching the array of possibilities
  • Think as a network maintaining our individualities and differences and to working horizontally in methods and practice
  • Become a real and virtual meeting place, a constellation of all manner of cooperation in favour of creating and promoting dance art in all regards

EDN Atelier: "Equity in Dance: What Challenges?"

The Atelier is hosted by la briqueterie CDCN du Val-de-Marne and will take place on 22 and 23 March 2023 as part of the 22nd edition of the Biennale de danse du Val-de-Marne at la briqueterie CDCN du Val-de-Marne, Vitry-sur-Seine. Registration is open to both EDN members and non-EDN members.

The Atelier is hosted by Dance Ireland and Dance Limerick and will take place on 9 and 10 February 2023 during the What Next Dance Festival in Limerick. Registration was open to both EDN and non-EDN members until 30 November 2022.

Carte Blanche Artist Exchange

Between 18-21 August 2022 CSC Bassano del Grappa hosted the Carte Blanche Artist Exchange. EDN members were invited to register for participation and travel support of their associated artists, producers and programmers. Registrations were open to both EDN and non-EDN members.

The event took place within the Czech Dance Platform, April 24-26, 2022, in Prague, hosted by Tanec Praha. In addition to the live gathering, the event was live-streamed on April 25, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. (CET, Prague time). The event was opened to EDN members and others.
