Guiding principles

The notion of “development” is the driving force of CDCN – La Place de la Danse.  Development applies to: creation (of artistic residencies, production), professional training (Extensions  – a two year training programme), and enabling a culture of choreography for audiences. Every year, CDCN Toulouse co-produces and offers residencies to 15-20 artistic teams. It operates as an executive producer for some companies, who benefit from links with A-CDCN network members and with other European networks.

During the performance seasons and the annual festival “ICI&LÀ”, the programme blends new forms of creation with touchstone works from 20th-21st century dance, thereby consolidating the public’s choreography culture.

History

La Place de la Danse is part the national network of choreographic development centres ‘A-CDCN’ (Association des Centres de développement chorégraphique nationaux) in France. CDCN Toulouse was the first of 12 CDCN dancehouses to be created.

Building and facilities

The CDCN Toulouse infrastructure consists of one studio of 250 m² with 100 seat capacity, a rehearsal studio of 150 m², 7 residential rooms with bathroom and work space facilities and a fully equipped kitchen.
